Mohair
We have a small flock of high quality Angora goats producing fine
mohair. They are shorn twice a year and are housed after winter
shearing to prevent them becoming too cold. All our kids are fibre
tested and we breed to retain the exceptional fineness for which
we have become well known. Fibre from our goats has been used for
designer collections in Antwerp , Tokyo and London .
We sell raw fibre for hand spinning or finished yarn spun to the
same weight as our cashmere. Mohair dyes beautifully having a softness
and lustre which is hard to beat (except by our cashmere!). It
is surprisingly hard wearing. I hand spin and use the coarser adult
mohair for rugs which take a good deal of punishment on the floor
of our farmhouse. The soft kid mohair makes beautiful baby goods
or an unusual knitted cover for an MP3 player. |
